The Military Prosecution has filed an indictment against a career officer with the rank of Lieutenant for offenses related to smuggling goods from Israel into the Gaza Strip. The Military Prosecution filed today (Sunday),

IDF Lieutenant indicted for aiding enemy, bribery, and smuggling prohibited goods into Gaza via Kerem Shalom crossing for NIS 5 million.

The officer was charged with a series of serious offenses, including: aiding the enemy, bribery, smuggling goods under aggravating circumstances, and additional offenses. Following the incident, an investigation was opened by the Special Investigations Unit of the Military Police Investigator, which culminated in an indictment. According to the indictment, during September 2025, the defendant and others planned the smuggling of a truck carrying prohibited goods into the Gaza Strip. They agreed that the officer, an IDF officer serving at the time at the Kerem Shalom crossing, would exploit his military position, his knowledge of procedures, and his operational authorities to allow the truck to enter the Strip, in exchange for a payment of millions of shekels to those involved and a division of the profits among them. On September 19, 2025, in the evening, the truck was brought near the Kerem Shalom crossing, where the officer met it in a military jeep. He ordered the crossing to be opened, creating a false pretense towards the soldiers at the scene, and escorted the truck with the goods, which included: mobile phones, cigarettes, tobacco, silicone, solar panels, and electric bicycles in large quantities, into the Gaza Strip. A short time later, those involved received significant sums of money for the smuggling, which were divided among them, with the defendant receiving approximately 5 million NIS. The Military Court ordered the officer’s arrest, currently until April 29, 2026. The IDF views the phenomenon of smuggling into the Gaza Strip with great severity, as it poses a risk to the security of the state in general, and even more so in cases involving IDF service members in regular or reserve duty. All IDF enforcement bodies – the Military Police Investigator and the Military Advocate General’s Corps – will continue to act to investigate such incidents and to prosecute those involved in such acts.
