Attempt to Smuggle Illegal Drugs Across Jordanian Border Foiled
Israeli police foiled a major drug smuggling attempt across the Jordanian border, arresting a Bedouin diaspora resident with 13.5 kg of suspected illegal drugs.
Jerusalem, 18 February, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Israel Police reported that a drug smuggling attempt was foiled at the Jordanian border as the result of an undercover investigation by its Judea and Samaria Central Unit, which led to the arrest of a resident of Israel’s Bedouin diaspora who was caught in the act while trading in 13.5 kg of substances suspected to be illegal drugs.
The unidentified suspect allegedly attempted to smuggle the drugs across the border into Jordan.
When the suspect arrived at the location along the Jordanian border, he saw the police officers and fled the scene. Police forces began pursuing him with the assistance of a helicopter and, at the end of the chase, he was stopped and arrested. The drugs were found in his possession.
In addition, the vehicle used by the suspect was impounded and transferred to administrative proceedings.
