Breaking News

Jerusalem, 24 July, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israeli inspectors thwarted multiple food smuggling attempts within 24 hours, seizing roughly 133,000 eggs and over 7 tons of frozen fish from the Palestinian Authority territories at various checkpoints, the Ministry of Agriculture said on Thursday.

In one case, eggs were hidden behind toilet paper in an unrefrigerated truck and accompanied by a forged certificate.

Authorities say the smuggled items posed serious public health risks due to lack of refrigeration and unknown origin. All the food was destroyed, and legal proceedings have begun against the suspects.
