Following are Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s remarks, today (Tuesday, 9 December 2025), to Cyber Week 2025  [translated from Hebrew]:

“I welcome all the participants in the Cyber Conference in Israel. Israel is a global cyber power. We receive a huge portion of the world’s cyber investments. I checked the data: we are, in terms of investments per capita, at a huge gap ahead of every other country, and even in absolute numbers, it is very high.

This is, first and foremost, thanks to a decision we made 12 years ago. I said that we must position Israel as a world leader in this field, and this was made possible because of the genius inherent in our people, in the women and men who founded the startups and truly surprised the world. Indeed, the whole world comes here to see this, the National Cyber Directorate, which is essentially a global cyber center.

We intend to do exactly the same thing in Artificial Intelligence, and we will also enter quantum. In these three fields, Israel will be a global leader. This is important for securing our future, our security, our economy and the welfare of our citizens.

But we must acknowledge one more thing: There was a failure here, a huge failure. This failure must be thoroughly investigated, it must examine the political echelon, the military echelon, the security echelon, everyone. And this is only possible if we do this with a broad national examination commission, that is not tailored to one side or the other.

A similar thing was done in the US. After the greatest disaster in US history, 9/11, they established a commission composed of half Republicans and half Democrats. Nobody had an advantage. Everyone could raise any question, and any person the sides wished to call. That is what will happen here too, there will be no immunity from criticism here, there will be no closure of one side against another. Everyone will be brought in and everyone will be questioned, and only in this way will we reach the truth. This is what must be done, and this is what will be done.”
