Gil Tanenbaum Breaking News

Jerusalem, 9 December, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Ministry of Welfare and Social Security will receive an additional one billion Shekels ($300 million) in the 2026 budget. The additional funding will be designated for investment in strengthening social services departments in local authorities by allocating designated resources for building, training, and supporting social workers, for additional social work standards and standards for additional professions in the fields of welfare, such as social work support and disability support.

The budget is also intended to expand services for youth and young adults at risk and for people in the cycle of domestic violence by adding caregiver standards that are needed, especially after the war. In addition, a dedicated budget will be transferred to strengthen services for the veteran population by establishing services to strengthen social ties, to link local authorities with the veteran citizen, and to alleviate loneliness.
