Ni Gil Tanenbaum Breaking News

Jerusalem, 27 November, 2025 (TPS-IL) — The IDF (Israel Defense Forces) reported that Thursday evening a number of Israeli citizens breached the border at two different locations in the Golan Heights and Mount Hermon areas into Syrian territory.

IDF forces rushed to both locations and shortly after the citizens were located, and after some of them clashed with the forces, they were safely returned to the territory of the State of Israel accompanied by soldiers.

The suspects who were captured were transferred to the Israel Police for further processing.

The IDF provided no details as to who the people were or why they crossed the border into Syrian territory.

However, since Israel established a new security zone within Syrian territory after the fall of the Assad regime there one year ago there have been a few incidents of Druze who live in the Golan attempting to visit relatives across the border and/or help Syrian Druze who have been attacked by forces of the new Syrian regime.

The Druze are a small Arab sect and religion whose few members live mostly in the region between southern Lebanon, northern Israel and southern Syria and those who live in the Golan area were separated from their relatives in Syria after the 1967 Six Day War.
