Jerusalem, 6 November, 2025 (TPS-IL) — The number of fatalities between January and September 2025 (first three quarters of the Year) in Israel was the highest in the last 19 years. During this period, the number of fatalities was 352 compared to 333 fatalities in the corresponding period in 2024, an increase of 5.7% and an increase of 31.0% compared to the average for this period in 2021-2023.
This is according to the data released by Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics for “Road Safety Week” that starts in November 2025.
The number of Arab road deaths decreased by 5.9% (112 deaths in January-September 2025 compared to 119 in the corresponding period in 2024); the number of Arab children killed decreased by 47.6%, compared to the corresponding period in 2024 (11 compared to 21, respectively).
Compared to the same period in 2024, the number of victims in accidents involving electric scooters decreased by 7.2% in accidents reported to the police, and increased by 13.3% in accidents not reported to the police but in which the victims were hospitalized. In contrast, the number of victims in accidents involving electric bicycles decreased by 23.9% in accidents reported to the police and decreased by 12.2% in accidents not reported to the police.
The number of fatal accidents in January-September 2025 (333) increased by 8.8% compared to January-September 2024 (306) and increased by 35.2% compared to the average for this period in 2021-2023 (246).
The Israel Police reported 5,701 road accidents with casualties classified as Extended CID in the Central Bureau of Investigation, a decrease of 12.3% compared to the corresponding period in 2024 and a decrease of 27.9% compared to the average in 2021-2023.
The number of casualties (10,068) also decreased (by 11.3%) compared to the corresponding period in 2024 (11,345) and decreased by 29.0% compared to the average in 2021-2023 (14,176).
Road accidents with injuries that occurred in 2024 compared to 2023:
In 2024, 8,315 road accidents with casualties classified as an extended traffic accident were reported to the Israel Police, a decrease of 5.9% compared to 2023.
The number of fatal accidents in 2024 increased by 19.8% compared to 2023 (405 compared to 338, respectively).
The number of casualties (14,450) decreased (by 9.1%) compared to 2023 (15,897).
The number of fatalities in 2024 increased by 21.6% compared to 2023 (439 compared to 361, respectively).
The number of Arab deaths increased by 62.2%. The number of Arab children killed also increased from 22 to 32.
Compared to 2023, in 2024 there was an increase in the number of casualties in accidents involving electric scooters (26.6% in accidents reported to the police and 16.2% in accidents not reported to the police). In the number of casualties in accidents involving electric bicycles, there was an increase in accidents reported to the police (3.2%) and a decrease in accidents not reported to the police (10.8%).
