Israel Sees 22% Drop In New HIV/AIDS Cases

Jerusalem, 30 November, 2025 (TPS-IL) — In the State of Israel in 2024, there were 317 new cases reported in which people were diagnosed with HIV. This was a decrease of approximately 22% compared to 2023, with a decrease in the incidence rate of HIV/AIDS in Israel from 4.1 to 3.2 new cases per 100,000 people in the population. The ministry of Health released this data in preparation for World AIDS Day, which is observed every year on December 1st.

According to the World Health Organization, in 2024, 1.3 million people were diagnosed with HIV, the same figure as in 2023. During that period, 630,000 people died from HIV-related diseases, including tuberculosis, recurrent pneumonia, lymphoma, and more. As of the end of 2024, there were 40.8 million people in the world living with HIV.
