Jerusalem, 10 June, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Border Police arrested dozens of illegal residents who tried to infiltrate Jerusalem from the areas of the Palestinian Authority. A targeted operation is currently underway in the Jerusalem area against illegal residence offenses.

Over the past weekend, Border Police fighters in the Jerusalem Encirclement foiled several attempts to infiltrate the city of Jerusalem, during which the fighters apprehended dozens of illegal residents. In addition, a number of drivers suspected of aiding them were arrested.

In one of the cases, on Route 443 that heads west out of northern Jerusalem, IDF (Israel Defense Forces) observers identified several suspects who had infiltrated through a water culvert under the separation fence. Within a short time, the suspects boarded a minibus that picked them up near the point of infiltration. Border Police who were nearby and received the report stopped the vehicle after a short chase. Inside the minibus, the soldiers arrested 16 illegal residents and the driver. All those involved were arrested and transferred for questioning to the Border Guard Jerusalem Area Investigation Unit.

The Israel Police emphasize that the offense of illegal residence constitutes an infrastructure for criminal and security activity and, in many cases, also for terrorism. Such illegal infiltration endangers the security of citizens. Anyone who assists illegal residents in transportation, shelter, employment, or any other way bears serious criminal responsibility and constitutes a link in the chain that threatens internal security.
