Jerusalem, 6 May, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Dozens of injured Syrian men, women, and children have had their lives saved after being evacuated to Israel for medical treatment.

A total of 32 Syrian nationals were treated in a medical center in Safed, Northern Israel, after being rescued, while suffering from injuries contracted during Syria’s ongoing civil war.

Of those treated, 19 have remained in hospital since the end of last month.

In a statement from Ziv Medical Center, Safed, a spokesperson said: “From April 30 (Independence Day) until today, 32 wounded Syrians, including women, children and men who were injured in the events in Syria, were evacuated to Ziv Medical Center in Safed.

“Of these, 19 remain hospitalized and under medical supervision in the various departments – orthopedics, neurosurgery, children and at-risk mothers. The medical teams at Ziv are working around the clock to provide them with professional, humane and dedicated care.”

One unnamed evacuee, who is being treated for shrapnel wounds said: “I was sure I wouldn’t survive. I waited for days with my injuries, without medicine, without help. When I finally got to Ziv – they gave me water, treated me, and spoke to me like a human being.” He went on to thank the medical team.
