Jerusalem, 25 February, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Ministry of Immigration and Absorption, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, announced on Tuesday the launch of the “Path to Medicine” program – a comprehensive program aimed at facilitating the integration of immigrant doctors from countries other than exempt countries into the Israeli healthcare system.

The “Path to Medicine” program will allow immigrant doctors to receive the necessary training in order to integrate more smoothly into the healthcare system, and to acclimatize socially and professionally. During the announcement of the plan during his visit to Rambam, Minister Ofir Sofer spoke about the growing need for the health system in light of the shortage of doctors, and the desire to allow immigrants to fully and successfully integrate into the Israeli labor market.

It is intended precisely for this purpose, combining professional training with an important educational process for immigrant doctors, which will lead to their success in the local medical field.

The program, which will last approximately eight months, will combine professional studies in preparation for the government licensing test along with clinical Hebrew studies, with an emphasis on dealing with everyday medical situations such as receiving a patient, communicating with medical teams, writing medical documents, discussions in a clinical consilium, and appearing in front of an audience in clinical cases. As part of the program, participants will receive in-depth preparation for the licensing test, lessons on medical ethics, dealing with unusual events, and integration activities in Israeli society.
