Tel Aviv Startup Teams With Foxconn-Backed ShunYun to Scale Photonic Chips

Jerusalem, 30 September, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israeli fabless semiconductor company NewPhotonics and Taiwanese-backed ShunYun Technology have announced a strategic partnership for volume manufacturing of NewPhotonics’ NPG photonic integrated circuit (PIC) product line. The collaboration addresses growing demand for high-speed optical interconnects in data centers, where Ethernet pluggable optics are forecasted to exceed 100 million units by 2028.

ShunYun, a subsidiary of Foxconn and Shinsun Group with manufacturing sites in China and Vietnam, will handle post-silicon processing, testing, and laser burn-in for the chips. NewPhotonics, based in Tel Aviv, designs the highly integrated PICs, including 1.6T DSP-based transceivers and 800G–1.6T optical signal processing chips.

The partnership aims to combine design innovation with scalable, reliable production for global data center customers.
