Jerusalem, 24 May, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics reported that, in April 2026, 38 people were killed in road accidents. This was two more than in April 2025 (36) and two more than the average for April in the years 2022-2024 (36).
The number of accidents in April totaled 477, a decrease of 28.8% compared to April 2025 (670), and a decrease of 40% compared to the April average in 2022-2024 (795).
The number of people seriously injured in traffic accidents in April was 152, a decrease of 35.9% compared to April 2025 (237), and a decrease of 38.5% compared to the April average in 2022-2024 (247).
The total number of casualties was 862, a decrease of 25.6% compared to April 2025 (1,159), and a decrease of 43.1% compared to the April average in 2022-2024 (1,516).
In January-April 2026, 139 people were killed in road accidents – the number of fatalities was 16 lower than the corresponding period in 2025. In April 2026, the number of road accidents and the number of casualties were lower than April 2025 and compared to the average for April in 2022-2024, but the number of fatalities was slightly higher.
