Jerusalem, 9 June, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The IDF (Israel Defense Forces) released an official timeline of Tuesday afternoon’s events when an armed terrorist infiltrated Israeli territory from Lebanon and opened fire on soldiers operating in the Ramim Ridge area near Kiryat Shmona. The terrorist was killed by Israeli forces.

At approximately 13:30, a logistics transport soldier arrived at the area following a report of a fire.

The soldier identified a suspicious figure in uniform and decided to dispatch a combat force.

The force arrived at the point within minutes, disembarked at the location, heard gunfire and fired toward its source. Following this fire, the terrorist was neutralized.

The event occurred near the border, 1.2 kilometers from the community of Margaliot.

Immediately afterward, additional forces arrived for foot searches, and simultaneously aerial searches were conducted with drones in the area, in addition to reinforcement of Air Force units.

A Night Rider alert was declared in Area B, and the area was cordoned off to enable IDF forces, territorial defense forces (rapid response teams, defense platoons) and additional security forces to conduct extensive searches to rule out additional threats.

Throughout the event, the IDF was in direct contact with local authorities and updated them with instructions.

During the searches, the terrorist was found on Israeli territory near the fence, wearing a uniform and armed with a long knife and a handgun.

Thus far, the terrorist’s organizational affiliation cannot be determined.
At 17:50, the IDF declared that the event had concluded in coordination with the authorities, after additional threats were ruled out and upon completion of extensive searches and observations from the air and ground.

The event is expected to be investigated by the Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir.
