The Ministry of Communications continues to implement its policy to expand coverage and reception in the periphery: Minister of Communications, Dr. Shlomo Karai, inaugurated a new cellular broadcasting site in the negev this week. The move is another step in the Ministry’s plan to connect the Negev and Arava to advanced communication infrastructures, which are a vital engine of growth for the entire region.
The new antenna from PHI was established in cooperation with the Israel Electric Corporation, within the “Orot Yosef” power station complex – a creative infrastructural solution that allows for maximum protection of equipment and operational security, which will prevent reception disruptions caused in the past by deliberate damage to infrastructure. The site serves customers of all companies and serves as a basis for upgrading technological services in the area.
Good news for residents and industry:
● Extensive settlement coverage: A dramatic upgrade in reception quality for residents of Wadi al-Na’am, Tarabin a-Sana, and large parts of Neot Hovav.
● Road safety: Providing continuous reception in a strategic section of Highway 40, a critical traffic artery used by thousands of drivers daily, where the ability to communicate with emergency services is of utmost importance.
● Smart industry: The new infrastructure supports the transformation of the Neot Hovav Industrial Park into a “smart park,” based on high connectivity, energy efficiency, and 5G technologies.
Minister of Communications, Dr. Shlomo Karai: “What we are inaugurating here today is not just another tower, but essential infrastructure. Cellular communication is not a luxury, it is a basic necessity. The ability to learn in schools, work efficiently, manage a business, call an ambulance in an emergency… depends on strong infrastructure. This antenna is a bridge connecting the periphery to the center and bringing progress to every citizen in Israel. On my watch, there are no second-class citizens.”
The Ministry of Communications will continue to act decisively with infrastructure companies and professional bodies to remove barriers and ensure that the bridge of technology connects all parts of the State of Israel.
