Woman killed by rocket in northern Israel, investigation ongoing
Woman killed by rocket in northern Israel; investigation underway into incident where driver sought shelter and was struck by debris.
Several other lightly injured individuals were evacuated from the scene. Initial investigation into the details of the incident indicates that a driver, who heard the alarms, stopped her vehicle on the side of the road and turned towards the area beyond the safety barrier to seek shelter. Seconds later, a rocket that hit a short distance from her caused her severe injury, following which medical personnel pronounced her dead at the scene. The Commander of the Northern District, Superintendent Meir Eliyahu, held a situation assessment at the scene of the incident with security and rescue forces. Even at this hour, many forces from the Northern District, Border Police, and sappers are operating at the scene to remove additional risks.
