Jerusalem, 7 April, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Israel Police reported that, on Tuesday, indictments were filed against two IDF (Israel Defense Forces) officers and a civilian on charges of involvement in smuggling illicit items to Gaza in exchange for large sums of money. The identities of the three were not revealed.

The Military Prosecution and the Southern District Prosecution (civil) filed the indictments, in preparation for filing charges against the three.

This came after, in recent weeks, an investigation was conducted by military and civil security agencies concerning the smuggling of goods to the Gaza Strip inside of humanitarian aid trucks in exchange for hundreds of thousands of shekels.

During the investigation, suspicion arose that a resident of Rahat, a Bedouin town near Gaza, Nasser Abu Mustafa, exploited his connections with a reserve military officer in order to explore the possibility of carrying out smuggling to the Gaza Strip.

Prohibited goods smuggled included hundreds of thousands of cigarettes and several cellular devices to elements inside the Gaza Strip.

During the investigation, it was learned that a career IDF officer at the rank of lieutenant colonel and a reserve officer at the rank of major, exploited their military roles and access to information about aid trucks entering Gaza. The trucks in question were stopped due to a malfunction en route to the Gaza Strip, and the civilian hid the prohibited goods inside them when he arrived to repair the trucks.
