Israeli Schools to Continue Remote Learning on Sunday
Israeli schools to continue remote learning on Sunday, March 8, after Home Front Command directives and consultations with education stakeholders.
Jerusalem, 5 March, 2026 (TPS-IL) — In accordance with the Home Front Command’s instructions and after a series of consultations and situation assessments held by the Ministry of Education with the Heads of local and regional authorities, teachers’ organizations, the National Parents’ Leadership and the National Student and Youth Council, it was decided that on Sunday (March 8), the education system will continue to operate in a remote learning format in all educational institutions.
The continuation of the outline for Monday will be determined, among other things, in accordance with the assessment of the situation and the Home Front Command guidelines that will be issued on Saturday night. To the extent that there is a change in the guidelines, the Ministry of Education, the Home Front Command and the local authorities will examine different and differential models for the physical operation of educational institutions, in accordance with the restrictions and guidelines that will be determined. In any case of physical opening, at least 24 hours of preparation will be given to the local authorities, schools and parents.
A local authority that requests to examine an exceptional opening of educational institutions in its area will be able to do so in coordination with the Home Front Command and the Ministry of Education.
