Israeli Agency Refutes UN Spokesman’s Comments on Supposed Lack of Aid Reaching Gaza

Israel's COGAT agency refutes UN Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Haq's claims, asserting substantial aid and food have reached Gaza, posing no famine risk.

Jerusalem, 19 March, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Israeli Agency COGAT (Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories: Judea and Samaria and towards the Gaza Strip) issued a statement refuting claims about Gaza made in a press briefing by the Deputy Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, Farhan Haq that Gaza is not getting enough aid.

Here are their key points:

Throughout the ceasefire in recent months, substantial volumes of aid were transferred to Gaza, including food quantities amounting to four times the estimated needs that the UN itself defines according to its own methodology. This is a fact also acknowledged by WORLD Food Program representatives on the ground.

There is no risk of famine in the Gaza Strip. Both UN representatives on the ground and official local sources report that there are sufficient food stocks for an extended period. Just a few days ago, the head of the Gaza Chamber of Commerce stated that food supplies are sufficient for at least six months.

Despite the ongoing Iranian missile threat, tailored operating mechanisms have been formulated to facilitate the crossings to function during this period – and every day, the entry of hundreds of humanitarian aid trucks is facilitated, including those of the UN.

The volume of food entering is aligned with the nutritional requirements presented by the UN in joint meetings with the Civil Military Coordination Center, which was established for Gaza with the implementation of last year’s ceasefire. All UN requests to bring in food in recent weeks have been approved and coordinated.
