Jerusalem, 7 April, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s military announced on Tuesday that it struck Iran’s main site for Producing sonar and underwater detection systems, further aimed at weakening Tehran’s military-industrial and naval capabilities.

The military stated that the site in Shiraz belonged to Iran’s defense ministry and was used to design, research, develop, and manufacture sonar systems for detecting submarines, surface vessels, divers, and underwater missiles. It noted the strike significantly damaged Iran’s maritime detection and defense abilities, as well as its capacity to produce and maintain submarines and naval electronic systems.

In a separate series of strikes in Karaj, the military reported hitting a major production site for naval cruise missile systems and air defense systems.

Earlier, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced that Israel had targeted Iran’s largest petrochemical facility at Asaluyeh, which he said accounted for about 50% of the country’s petrochemical output. The Associated Press mentioned that Katz also stated that, along with an earlier strike, these attacks had disabled facilities responsible for 85% of Iran’s Petrochemical Exports. Reuters reported explosions at the South Pars petrochemical complex and said companies supplying electricity, water, and oxygen to Asaluyeh were hit, cutting power to all petrochemical units there, although Tasnim reported that Pars Petrochemical itself was unharmed.
