Haifa: Police neutralize weapon in Carmel, residents evacuated

Haifa police and sappers will neutralize a dangerous weapons item in the Carmel tomorrow, evacuating residents and closing roads for safety.

Police officers and sappers from the Haifa station, the Home Front Command, and the Haifa Municipality will operate to neutralize a weapons item found in the Carmel area. According to a situation assessment held today, led by the Israel Police, and with the participation of the Haifa Municipality and emergency and rescue forces, tomorrow (Sunday) starting at 07:00 in the morning, an operational activity will commence to neutralize a weapons item and safely remove it from the area of Herzl and YLG streets. In order to prevent risk to human life and ensure the safety of residents, several buildings will be evacuated and road closures will be implemented in the area. Instructions for residents: * Evacuate from nearby homes in coordination and according to the instructions of the security forces on the ground. * Ensure all household residents are with you, including children, the elderly, and pets. * Assist people with disabilities and the elderly. * Do not approach the area where the weapons item is being handled – this is a real life-threatening danger. * Avoid coming to the area unnecessarily and obey the instructions of the forces operating in the area. * Be attentive to ongoing updates that will be provided in the media and on the official police networks. Full road closures: Herzl Street will be closed to traffic between the Herzl/Dover Shalom intersection (Herzl 97) and the Herzl/Barzilai intersection (Herzl 113). YLG Street – Travel on the street will be permitted only up to the YLG/HaKishon intersection (YLG 23). Traffic redirection and alternative routes: * For those coming from the direction of HaGiborim Road – traffic will be directed right to Barzilai Street. * For those coming from the direction of Herzl Road – traffic will be directed left to Dover Shalom Street, and from there to YLG Street.
