Public Announcement
The Supervisor of Standards at the Ministry of Economy and Industry wishes to inform the public using the product:
Popcorn Maker Model 802-PC-GL
Country of Manufacture: China
Importer: Galon Fans and Vacuums Ltd.
Following an inspection conducted by the Supervisor of Standards through a recognized testing laboratory, the Supervisor of Standards’ position is that there is a concern of electrocution risk resulting from the use of the product, in light of the defects that the Supervisor claims were found in it:
- The connector supplying power to the heating pot detaches without the use of tools, which may allow access to the connector pins carrying electrical current.
- The main grounding screw lacks a safety device (washer) to prevent loosening.
- The power fuse of the frying pot does not have a grounding conductor.
A petition filed by the product’s importer was accepted: The competent court ruled that the standards according to which the product was tested do not apply to it (Administrative Case 49443-03-25).
The Supervisor of Standards has appealed this ruling to the supreme court, which is still pending (Supreme Administrative Appeal 9308-11-25), and in his opinion, there is a concern of defects and a risk of danger from using the product.
