Jerusalem egg seller suspected of hiding over $270K income
Jerusalem egg seller Hanania Elmaliach is investigated for concealing over NIS 1.2 million income in 2024, failing to report supplies to tax authorities.
The Tax Authority – through the Jerusalem and Southern Investigations Tax Assessor – is conducting an investigation against Hanania Elmaliach, a Jerusalem resident who deals in egg marketing, on suspicion of concealing income exceeding NIS 1 million.
The investigation reveals that the suspect supplied eggs to various parties without reporting to the tax authorities and without opening a file. During the investigation, documents and invoices from various companies were found, strengthening the suspicions that the suspect supplied eggs to different customers without reporting his income. Furthermore, the suspect did not keep proper accounting records.
The investigation findings indicate prima facie evidence that the suspect did not report income totaling approximately NIS 1.2 million in 2024.
This week, the investigation became public when Tax Authority investigators searched the suspect’s home and seized documents and computer materials under a court order. Subsequently, the suspect was brought before a judge at the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court and released under restrictive conditions. The investigation is ongoing.
