Summary:

The purpose of the support according to these criteria is to assist local authorities in strengthening public awareness of Israel’s heritage, by exposing and making accessible to the general public tangible and intangible national heritage assets, as well as encouraging the involvement of local authorities in carrying out the necessary actions to disseminate national heritage content among the public in the State of Israel across diverse populations and a variety of activities.

The support criteria replace previous criteria on the same subject, according to which the Ministry supported local authorities in the field of heritage dissemination in 2025. The support is for activities in the field of heritage dissemination in local authorities, including local corporations. Among the types of supported activities are: seminars in the field of heritage; tours within and outside the local authority on heritage topics; conferences on heritage topics; lectures on heritage topics; “adoption” of a heritage site; peak events in the annual cycle (a new area); heritage celebrations. For each activity, criteria and maximum support scope have been determined.

The method of calculating the total support scope has changed compared to the previous criteria and will be carried out, among other things, according to the authority’s socio-economic or peripheral classification; its population size and the activities it conducts. The authority will be required to provide supplementary funding for each activity, to the extent determined in the criteria.
