Jerusalem, 19 May, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s State Naming Committee approved renaming the community of Givat Harel in the Binyamin region to Carmei Oz, following its formal regularization, officials said. It follows a broader government effort to regulate long-established communities across Judea and Samaria, including infrastructure development and administrative recognition, the council said.

Givat Harel was established as an illegal outpost in 1998. It and 18 other such outposts gained government recognition in 2025.
