Site in Jerusalem Selected for New Permanent Residence of US Embassy in Jerusalem

Israel has approved land in Jerusalem's Allenby complex for the permanent US Embassy residence, a move praised by Netanyahu as a sign of the strong US-Israel.

Jerusalem, 24 March, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Israeli government has approved the allocation of land for the construction of the permanent residence of the US Embassy in Jerusalem, the capital of Israel. The land to be allocated is in the area of the area in the Allenby complex in Jerusalem, located to the south of the Old City on Hebron Road.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, and Minister of Construction and Housing Haim Katz emphasized that this is a “significant decision, which complements an important political move that began with the courageous and historic decision of United States President Donald Trump in his first term to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and to move the United States embassy there.”

Prime Minister Netanyahu and Ministers Saar and Katz further stated that the establishment of the permanent structure of the American embassy constitutes a “tangible, central and long-term expression of the United States’ commitment to Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and of the strength of the special relationship between the two countries. At a time when Israel and the United States stand side by side in the campaign against the Iranian terrorist regime, the decision takes on special significance, and constitutes further evidence of the strength of the connection, the firm alliance and the ethical and strategic partnership between the two countries.”
