Jerusalem, 8 June, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Knesset Labor and Welfare Committee on Monday approved new regulations expanding recognition and benefits for National Service volunteers. The measures broaden the definition of a “lone volunteer” to include young people without family support, those raised in foster care or out-of-home frameworks, and others eligible for special assistance. The change is Expected to benefit an estimated 500–700 volunteers.

Overall, around 20,000 young adults volunteer in the National Service, according to data presented to the lawmakers.
