Jerusalem, 12 April, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Under the direction of Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, today, April 12, the Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Eden Bar Tal, reprimanded by telephone call to the charge d’affaires of the Spanish Embassy in Israel, Francisca Pedros, following what the Ministry called the “shocking anti-Semitic display” of the burning of an effigy of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that took place in Spain.
The Director General made it clear that the “horrifying” display is a direct product of the Sánchez government’s systematic incitement against the State of Israel.
“Equally outrageous is the fact that, as of this time,” said the Ministry, “the Spanish government has not yet seen fit to condemn this blatant display of anti-Semitism. This conduct is completely unacceptable.”
The Ministry went on to allege that the Spanish government, led by Sanchez, is “slandering Israel and IDF (Israel Defense Forces) soldiers with false blood libels and is trying to impose sanctions against Israel in the European Union. During the war against Iran, the Spanish government harmed the interests of Israel and the interests of our ally, the United States.”
