Jerusalem, 15 April, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Under the direction of the Minister of Construction and Housing and Chairman of the Israel Lands Council, Haim Katz, what the Ministry described as a “historic” temporary order will be submitted to the Council for approval on April 26, 2026: a hard quota of half of the government subsidized new apartments offered to the public by lottery will be set aside for military reservists in each lottery, without distinction between areas of demand and the periphery of the country.
This will mean an addition of 1,139 apartments to the quota for military personnel in the upcoming lottery.
A ratio of 25% will be maintained for reservists in combat units.
As part of the move, the minister instructed that the opening of the latest lottery that was scheduled for today will be postponed in order to allow the decision to enter into full effect, so that the lottery will open only after the directive is approved and implemented in practice, and all apartments will be drawn in accordance with the new quota.
