Foreign Minister Sa’ar Meets in Washington with Senior Latin American Officials

Jerusalem, 4 February, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar held a diplomatic meeting at the home of Israeli Ambassador to the United StatesYechiel Leiter, with the participation of leaders from Latin America, including three foreign ministers and senior American officials, including the US Deputy Secretary of State.
The meeting took place against the backdrop of the opening of a joint working group between Israel and the US for strategic dialogue on latin american issues.
Sa’ar has defined 2026 as a year of focus on Latin America for the Israeli Foreign Ministry.
The meeting was attended by Argentine Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno, Paraguayan Foreign Minister Ruben Ramirez Lecco, and Ecuadorian Foreign Minister Gabriela Sommerfeld.
Also participating were US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau, Presidential Advisor Paula White, Congressmen Maria Salazar and Mario Diaz-Balart, as well as AIPAC Director General Elliot Brandt and Chairman of the Jewish Federations of North America Eric Fingerhut.
During the meeting, the ministers and the Deputy Secretary discussed the various opportunities for partnership between the countries and cooperation in areas such as economics and innovation.
“The strong friendship between Israel and the United States, Argentina, Paraguay, and Ecuador has grown significantly over the past year, and I’m confident it will continue to grow even stronger,” said Sa’ar. “There is a powerful spirit of change in Latin America, and the camp of freedom is gaining strength.”
