Gaza Fears Being ‘Forgotten’ as Iran War Rages

Palestinians in Gaza fear being forgotten as the world's focus shifts to the escalating Iran-America war, which began with a joint strike killing Ayatollah Ali.

Jerusalem, 25 March, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Palestinians in Gaza City voiced frustration with the war in Iran, telling The Press Service of Israel they fear the world will “forget” about them.

“The world has forgotten us, and we are still as we are, living in tents. No one is paying attention to us anymore,” 49-year-old Alia Al-Ansari told TPS-IL.

Her comments were  a recurring sentiment among Palestinians who described a sense of abandonment as global focus shifted to Iran and the war’s international fallout.

“Prices are still high, and sometimes the crossings are closed, which makes things even worse,” Al-Ansari added. “God willing, Iran will prevail over Israel.”

Zuhair Al-Ra’i told TPS-IL, “We’ve been forgotten. Right now, everything is focused on the Iran and America war, and we’ve been left behind. At this point, we can’t do anything except hold on to our faith and rely on God.”

He added, “Israel and America are oppressing the whole world, not just the Palestinian people and Arab countries. Even Arab countries are not able to confront them. We as Palestinians cannot face them, and no one can. So we leave it all to God.”

The Israel-Iran war started with a joint Israel-American Strike that killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on February 28. Since then, Iran has launched missile attacks on Israel and Gulf states as America and Israel continued to strike Iranian targets.

“This war is reshaping the Middle East and creating a new regional equation, imposing the terms of Israel, the United States, and countries that have normalized relations, in a way that sidelines the Palestinian issue,” said Munir Al-Zaq, 51. “This has affected us deeply, but ultimately the people will prevail and achieve their freedom and independence from oppression and colonialism,” he added.

Around 1,200 people were killed, and 252 Israelis and foreigners were taken captive by Hamas during the October 7, 2023, attack on southern Israel.
