Throughout Operation ‘Lion’s Roar’, the IDF has been conducting a systematic and ongoing effort to strike the Revolutionary Guards and the Basij unit, during which hundreds of headquarters and command and control centers were destroyed throughout Iran, and in Tehran in particular.
In recent weeks, the IDF has operated systematically against the unit’s command centers, and subsequently identified the forces transitioning to operate from alternative headquarters – which were also attacked. Following repeated strikes, a renewed deployment of Basij forces was identified, who were deployed and operated from positions in public spaces in the heart of Tehran.
Following this identification, the Air Force, with precise intelligence guidance from AMAN and in cooperation with AMTZ, attacked Basij operatives in the last few hours who were operating from more than 10 different positions throughout Tehran.
Among the targets, an emergency Basij and Revolutionary Guards position that previously served as a football club was specifically attacked, demonstrating the depth of the damage to its infrastructure and the regime’s modus operandi – the deliberate and cynical use of the civilian population as a shield for the terrorist regime’s activities.
The recent attacks, along with the elimination of the unit’s commander Gholam Reza Soleimani, are causing deep and ongoing damage to the Basij unit’s capabilities.
In addition to being part of the regime’s armed forces, the Basij forces have been responsible for years for carrying out terror plots, and at the same time lead the violent suppression mechanisms against Iranian citizens in internal protests.
