Jerusalem, 1 April, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The burial place of IDF (Israel Defense Forces) Private Dov Permit, who fell in battle in the Malkia area on the border with Lebanon in 1948, has been located.
As part of an investigation by the IDF Missing Persons Branch, which lasted for over five years, it was determined that the late Dov Permit was buried in a mass grave in Kibbutz Maoz Haim – near Beit Shean – with 16 other IDF martyrs from the War of Independence.
His family, including the late Permit’s niece, received an update last night from the Chief Human Resources Officer and Head of the Casualty Brigade, Brigadier General Edna Ilya, on the completion of the investigation and the unraveling of the mystery of his disappearance.
In the near future, the circle will close after almost 78 years, and a state military ceremony will be held to add a tombstone in his name at the military cemetery in Maoz Haim.
