45 Holocaust Survivors Granted Tax Refunds After Targeted Outreach
45 Holocaust survivors received NIS 1.2M ($390K) in tax refunds after a targeted initiative assisted with filing for exemptions.
Jerusalem, 18 February, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Forty-five Holocaust survivors received income tax refunds totaling about NIS 1.2 million ($390,000) over the past two months, following cooperation between the Tax Authority and the Authority for the Rights of Holocaust Survivors in the Prime Minister’s Office.
The initiative targeted survivors eligible for tax exemptions due to severe disability who had not submitted refund requests. Representatives visited survivors’ homes, assisted with completing and filing forms, and ensured they were fully exercising their rights ahead of the end-of-2025 deadline. Since 2020, similar targeted efforts have helped recover more than NIS 20 million ($6.4 million) in tax refunds and adjustments for Holocaust survivors nationwide.
