Unvaccinated Six-Year-Old Boy Dies of Measles, Sixteenth Recent Measles Death
A six-year-old unvaccinated boy died of measles in Israel, bringing the total recent measles deaths to sixteen, the Ministry of Health reported.
Jerusalem, 22 February, 2026 (TPS-IL) — A six-year-old boy, who was not vaccinated, died Sunday evening of measles, the sixteenth measles-related death in Israel over the past few months.
The Ministry of Health reported that the boy arrived in critical condition at the hospital, where after resuscitation efforts, he was pronounced dead.
The Ministry of Health emphasized: Vaccination and timely arrival for medical treatment – can save lives.
Of the other 15 deaths, most of the deceased were healthy infants and children with no underlying diseases – who were not vaccinated against measles.
The Ministry also emphasized that it is critically important to arrive on time for medical treatment, upon the appearance of symptoms or suspicion of infection with the disease.
