New Guidelines for IVF Treatments During Conflict
Israel's Ministry of Health has updated IVF treatment guidelines, enabling expanded services during conflict while ensuring patient and staff safety.
Jerusalem, 5 April, 2026 (TPS-IL) — After assessing the situation, the Ministry of Health is once again updating the guidelines for operating in vitro fertilization (IVF) units and allowing the expansion of all treatments subject to the guidelines given and the protection conditions.
The guidelines were determined responsibly and with professional judgment, with the aim of allowing as much continuity of treatment as possible – while maintaining the safety of patients and medical staff.
In accordance with the assessment of the situation and the updated guidelines, at this stage it is possible to expand activity in in vitro fertilization (IVF) units and perform all treatments, provided that the guidelines provided and the required protection conditions are met.
As defined in previous guidelines, procedures requiring anesthesia or sedation, such as egg retrieval, will be performed in a standard protected operating room only. Procedures that do not require sedation, such as embryo transfer, ultrasound examinations, and blood sampling, can also be performed in non-protected spaces, as long as there is access to a standard protected space within the protection time determined by the Home Front Command.
