Infant Death at Ashdod Hospital Prompts Health Ministry Probe
Health Ministry probes infant death at Ashdod hospital after consuming recalled Nutrilon formula; external review committee appointed.
Jerusalem, 12 February, 2026 (TPS-IL) — An infant who died of respiratory failure last Friday at Assuta Hospital in Ashdod had consumed Nutrilon, a brand of infant formula produced by Nutricia and marketed as a breast milk substitute, from batches that were later recalled, Israel’s health ministry said.
The ministry’s director general has an external review committee to examine the circumstances of the death and why it was not reported to the ministry in real-time as required.
Health officials and initial findings from the National Center for Forensic Medicine have ruled out a clinical link between the recalled formula and the death. Additional tests will be conducted.
