Israel's Ministry of Health joins European AI research funding, hosting a Feb 25, 2026 webinar on AI in Healthcare: Trust and Evidence with expert Karim.

The office of the Chief Scientist of the Ministry of Health, a partner in the European network ERA4Health, is working to expand opportunities for international collaborative research funding in Europe, by creating a coordinated funding mechanism for public health research and promoting responsible innovation in healthcare.

The eighth ERA4Health webinar will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at 15:00 Israel time, online.

Webinar Topic:
AI in Healthcare: Trust and Evidence

Speaker:

Karim Lekadir, ICREA Research Professor
University of Barcelona
Department of Mathematics & Computer Science

Prof. Lekadir is an international expert in artificial intelligence in healthcare, focusing on the development of reliable, explainable, and clinically validated AI methods, particularly in medical imaging and multimodal data analysis. He is a partner and leader in numerous European research initiatives dealing with bias, fairness, robustness, and evidence generation for AI systems in real clinical settings.

During the webinar, the FUTURE-AI model will be presented: a consensus-based framework developed by 117 experts from 50 countries, comprising six key principles: fairness, universality, traceability, usability, robustness, and explainability – which have been translated into 30 actionable principles for implementing reliable AI in the healthcare system.

The lecture will address the gap between impressive research advancements in AI and actual clinical application, and ways to bridge it through evidence-based grounding, scientific validation, and responsible implementation. This topic directly aligns with ERA4Health’s commitment to promoting ethical innovation, health equity, and the intelligent application of advanced technologies in research and treatment.
