Trees Planted in Memory of Ran Gvili
Trees planted in Ariel honor heroic officer Ran Gvili, Oct 7 victim. His body, held 843 days in Gaza, was recovered by IDF last week.
Jerusalem, 2 February, 2026 (TPS-IL) — On the occasion of Tu B’Shvat, the Jewish new year for the tress (a minor holiday) which was observed on Monday, a tree planting ceremony was held at the Boys’ Garden in the city of Ariel, to commemorate the memory of the heroic police officer Ran Gvili, a victim of the October 7 massacre.
He fell defending the homeland in the heroic battle on Kibbutz Alumim, and his body was kidnapped to the Gaza Strip.
Gvili was the last Israeli to still be held in Gaza, 843 days after the October 7 terror massacre. Exactly one week ago, his body was located by IDF fighters and security forces after much effort, and last Wednesday he was laid to rest in a state police ceremony in his hometown.
