CPI Down 0.3% in January

Israel's Consumer Price Index (CPI) dropped 0.3% in January 2026, with clothing and transportation prices falling sharply. Annual inflation reached 1.8%.

Jerusalem, 18 February, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics reported that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) decreased by 0.3% in January 2026, compared to December 2025, reaching an index level of 103.3 points (base: average 2024=100.0 points). The CPI excluding vegetables and fruits and the CPI excluding energy also decreased by 0.3%, reaching an index level of 103.4 and 103.5 points, respectively. The CPI excluding housing decreased by 0.4%, reaching an index level of 102.4 points.

Notable price declines were recorded in the following categories: clothing and footwear, which fell by 3.9%, transportation, which fell by 2.8%, culture and entertainment, which fell by 0.7%, and tenant-owned housing services, which fell by 0.2%.

Notable price increases were recorded in the following categories: miscellaneous, which rose by 2.4%, fresh vegetables and fruits, which rose by 0.8%, health, which rose by 0.7%, home maintenance, which rose by 0.6%, and rent, which rose by 0.3%.

Over the past twelve months (January 2026 compared to January 2025), the CPI increased by 1.8%. The CPI excluding vegetables and fruits also increased by 1.8%, the CPI excluding energy increased by 2.0%, and the CPI excluding housing increased by 1.1%.

Seasonally adjusted and trend-adjusted consumer price index
In January 2026, the seasonally adjusted CPI remained unchanged, the seasonally adjusted CPI excluding housing decreased by 0.2%, and the seasonally adjusted CPI excluding vegetables and fruits and excluding housing decreased by 0.4%.

According to the trend data, for the period between October 2025 and January 2026, the annual rate of increase in the CPI reached 1.2%. The annual rate of increase in the CPI excluding housing reached 0.3%; in contrast, the annual rate of decrease in the CPI excluding vegetables and fruits and excluding housing reached 0.3%.
