Israeli Government Takes Steps to Work Against Financing Behind Crime in Arab Communities
Israel's Finance Ministry and crime combating headquarters are enhancing cooperation and tools to fight illegal capital financing crime in Arab communities.
Jerusalem, 10 February, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The finance ministry’s management and senior officials from the headquarters for combating crime in Arab society in the Prime Minister’s Office met Tuesday morning to strengthen cooperation and develop significant tools in the fight against financing and the methods of transferring funds that fuel crime in Arab society.
Attorney Roy Kahlon, who heads the headquarters, presented the dimensions of crime and described the headquarters’ actions to include enforcement tools in the issue. Senior officials from the Ministry of Finance highlighted the need for urgent legislative approvals that the Ministry of Finance has been requesting from the Knesset for a long time, which would allow it to combat illegal capital and capital transferred to criminal organizations. In addition, the finance officials requested that capabilities and tools be transferred to their use that could assist the country’s economic bodies in enforcing and tracking the money that leads to crime.
It was also noted that the work of the Ministry of Finance and the Tax Authority in the fight against illegal capital will continue to improve. In the past two years, the state has begun to get its hands on illegal money using advanced tools, and the fight has yielded billions of shekels to the state treasury. Additional developments are required, as well as steps that need to be approved by the Knesset, in order for the fight against black capital to be more effective.
