Jerusalem, 4 February, 2026 (TPS-IL) — In a bid to protect Israel’s honeybee population from drought and declining nectar sources, the Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael – Jewish National Fund. and the Pollination and Honey Council have planted over 32,000 bee-friendly trees and shrubs across the country. The initiative aims to provide year-round pollen and nectar, crucial for bees — the main pollinators of agricultural crops.

Israeli beekeepers have faced food shortages due to reduced flowering and climate challenges, threatening both bees and crop yields. The project also supports environmental benefits, including carbon fixation, soil protection, and wildlife habitats. Honeybee pollination contributes roughly NIS 3.5 billion ($1.13 billion) annually to Israel’s agricultural economy.
