Upon receiving the report, the District Commander, Superintendent Amir Cohen, declared a hostile act incident and dispatched large forces from the Central District, Border Police fighters, and additional security personnel. Initial investigation reveals that the terrorist, an Israeli citizen in his 20s from Tayibe, left Tayibe in his vehicle around 10:30 AM and began a shooting spree at several locations. During this, the terrorist opened fire on civilians at a gas station in the Zur Yigal area and wounded two people. He continued driving towards Zur Yitzhak, where he shot at the guard post at the entrance to the settlement and wounded another civilian. Nearby, he shot at a civilian woman who was wounded. Later, towards Zur Natan, he shot at a vehicle – where a reservist soldier was murdered and another soldier was wounded. Subsequently, the terrorist arrived at the entrance to the settlement of Savyon and opened fire at the guard post. The settlement’s security coordinator engaged the terrorist, returned fire, and exchanged gunfire with him, after which the terrorist fled the scene. Concurrently, police officers from the Central District and Border Police fighters, along with IDF forces and emergency response teams, established roadblocks, conducted searches, and carried out extensive operational activities to locate the terrorist, accompanied by a police helicopter scanning from the air. At 11:03 AM, the terrorist was identified by officers from the Tayibe station, who pursued him and brought about his neutralization and elimination in an open area near the quarries between Zur Natan and Tayibe. As a result of the shooting spree, one Israeli citizen was murdered and several other civilians were wounded with varying degrees of injury. As part of the investigation into the attack, the terrorist’s family members were arrested and brought in for questioning. Detectives from Sharon District and officers from the Tira station arrested an additional suspect for aiding the terrorist. Following the investigation and based on its findings, a request will be made for an extension of his detention. The Police Commissioner, Commissioner Danny Levy, arrived at the scene and praised the swift response of the officers, security forces, and the emergency response team, who engaged the terrorist and acted decisively until his elimination and the prevention of further harm to civilians. The investigation into the incident is ongoing at Sharon District in the Central District.
