According to the indictment, filed by Adv. Hili Bergman from theJerusalem District Attorney’s Office, in the months preceding the incident, the defendant harassed children who came to the synagogue where he prayed. Following this, the minor’s father approached him to clarify the reason for his conduct. At the beginning of the month, the defendant decided to harm the minor or his father, equipped himself with a bottle he filled with gasoline, followed the family, and subsequently boarded a bus on which the minor was traveling.
During the ride, he approached the minor, poured gasoline on him, pulled out a lighter, and tried to ignite it several times, but the lighter did not work and only produced a spark. The minor pushed his hand away, the bus passengers noticed what was happening, the bus driver stopped the vehicle, and the defendant fled the scene.
The indictment attributes to the defendant offenses of attempted murder, attempted arson, and unlawful assault.
