During the operation, the forces heard the sound of gunfire and began to move in that direction. A few seconds later, a detective team identified a suspect fleeing on foot from the shooting area. The detectives initiated a foot pursuit during which they fired a warning shot into the air until the suspect (28, from Iksal) was apprehended. A search near him resulted in the seizure of the handgun with which the shooting was allegedly carried out seconds earlier, as well as additional findings on his person. Concurrently with the arrest of the shooting suspect, teams that arrived at the scene located a shooting victim who received initial treatment and was subsequently evacuated in moderate condition to the hospital. This morning, the police are expected to request an extension of the suspect’s detention.
