15% of Israelis Report Being Affected by Violence

Jerusalem, 19 March, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics released the initial findings from the 2025 Personal Security Survey: Injuries among people aged 20 and over, which found that during the year preceding the survey, approximately 954,000 people aged 20 and over (15.0%) were affected by various types of offenses.

Online crime is the most common crime, affecting approximately 521,000 people (8.2%). The most common crimes in this area are theft or dissemination of information (39.0%) and impersonation (33.1%).

The rate of crime among Jews and others was 16.6%, while the rate among Arabs was 7.8%.

The rate of victims of a Violent crime or threat of violence among men was 1.5 times higher than the rate among women (4.4% compared to 2.7%, respectively).

The rate of victims of Sexual harassment among women was almost 4 times higher than the rate among men (3.9% compared to 0.9%, respectively).

Most victims did not report the incident to the police. The highest rate of non-reporting was found among victims of sexual harassment (92.6%) and online crime (90.4%).

Of the approximately 178,000 victims of a violent crime or threat of violence who stated that they had suffered harm, 88.4% reported psychological harm.

The rate of men who feel personally safe walking alone in their residential area after dark is significantly higher than the rate of women (83.9% compared to 65.8%, respectively).

The rate of men who feel generally safe in their residential area is also higher than the rate of women (83.5% compared to 78.7%, respectively).

20.5% stated that they were afraid, “to a very great extent” or “to a great extent,” of being harmed by crime or violence in their area of residence.
