Visiting UN Envoys Explore Israeli Agri-Tech
UN ambassadors from 22 countries visited Israel to explore advanced agricultural technology and food security research at the Volcani Institute.
Jerusalem, 23 February, 2026 (TPS-IL) — A delegation of United Nations ambassadors and representatives from 22 countries visited Israel on Monday to learn about Israeli agricultural innovation and FOOD SECURITY research. The visit, initiated by Israel’s envoy to the UN, Danny Danon, included meetings at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and a tour of the Volcani Institute in Beit Dagan. The institute is the Agricultural Ministry’s research arm.
Diplomats were shown “fields of the future,” including drones that detect crop disease before it becomes visible, autonomous robots that help adapt plant varieties to climate change, and newly developed wheat, citrus, olive, and date varieties. Researchers also presented practical solutions for boosting crop resilience and yields amid the climate crisis.
The delegation included representatives from Bulgaria, Italy, Albania, Cyprus, Australia, Romania, Paraguay, Tuvalu, Samoa, Haiti, Malawi, Equatorial Guinea, Guatemala, Papua New Guinea, Palau, Zambia, Rwanda, Micronesia, Moldova, South Sudan, Ivory Coast and the Solomon Islands.
