Jerusalem, 22 September, 2025 (TPS-IL) — The Ministry of Health reported that an unvaccinated one-year-old toddler from Jerusalem has died of measles. This is the third death from measles since the outbreak began.
Currently, in the communities of Beit Shemesh, Bnei Brak, Harish, Jerusalem, Modi’in Illit and Nof HaGalil, there is an active outbreak of measles, and it is possible to reach the measles vaccination stations that were established to reinforce vaccination efforts, without making a prior appointment.
As of today, 24 measles patients are hospitalized, most of them children up to the age of 6 who have not been vaccinated against measles. Of these, 8 children are hospitalized in intensive care.
Measles is a highly contagious, life-threatening viral disease that is preventable through an effective and safe vaccine.
Last week, the Ministry of Health announced that infants aged 6-11 months will be able to be vaccinated against measles without an appointment in the milk drops, subject to family or social ties to people living in localities where there is an active measles outbreak, and if a visit to these areas is planned.
