Stray Dog Infected with Rabies Found in Nursery Area Near Jaljulia Community

Animal description: The Ministry of Health reports a stray puppy, small in size, brown-gray in color, infected with rabies in the nursery area near Jaljulia.
Dates: 01.11.2025 to 11.11.2025 inclusive
Details: 18 people who were exposed to the dog have been referred for preventive rabies treatment.

Instructions:
Anyone who had contact, or whose pets had contact, with the infected animal or another stray animal in the area during the dates 01.11.2025 to 11.11.2025 inclusive, should urgently contact the Safed Health Bureau at 04-8774825 or their nearest health bureau to consider preventive treatment.
After working hours and during the weekend, contact the emergency department at a hospital.

The Ministry of Health requests:

  • Parents—check with their children if they had contact with any suspected animals and contact the health bureau urgently.
  • Pet owners—contact their municipal veterinarian to verify their pets’ vaccination status.
  • Share this information with hikers and visitors in the area and nearby communities.

The Ministry of Health reminds anyone who has been bitten or scratched by an animal to immediately wash the area with running water and soap, disinfect with antiseptics, and visit the health bureau to determine if preventive rabies treatment is needed.
