PM Netanyahu’s remarks at the start of the Government meeting – 30 September 2025
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, today (Tuesday, 30 September 2025), at the start of the Government meeting [translated from Hebrew]:
“I have just returned from the US on behalf of the Government and the citizens of Israel. At the UN, I presented the truth of the State of Israel, its citizens and its soldiers.
In Washington, I reached agreement with President Trump on a framework for the release of all of our hostages and the achievement of all of the war objectives that we determined. I will present a more detailed report to the members of both the Government and the Security Cabinet.
Today we are going to appoint Maj.-Gen. David Zini as Director of the ISA. I have been very impressed by him over the years and I have known him for many years – his various positions in the IDF including those in which he worked closely with the ISA.
I have seen his determination, his leadership and his ability to think outside the box, and to see things before they develop. I think he is the right person to lead the ISA as someone who knows the system but is not part of it. I have no doubt that he will have great success, and I am certain that everyone will support this. This success is important for the security of all citizens of Israel.
I would like to take this opportunity to again wish the citizens of Israel a good year; may we be inscribed in the Book of Life, also you, Government ministers, and your families, the families of the hostages, the bereaved families and, of course, the wounded, who are great heroes. Everyone bravely bears the heavy burden that has led to our major achievements in the past year.
I would also like to wish a good year and an inscription in the Book of Life to our heroic soldiers who are fighting at the front and bringing us achievements which are ensuring the eternity of Israel.
May all of you have a good year and be inscribed in the Book of Life.”
